About Us

Our Story

The Borough Church is a community of believers dedicated to reminding people of God's love and helping them walk in it. The mission of the church is to spread love, share life, and shape lives through their actions and teachings.

Founded in 2019 by Zach and Chaz, The Borough Church began as separate Bible studies in neighboring Brooklyn apartments. As their ministries grew and their friendship deepened, they felt called to combine their efforts and serve their community together.

Despite the challenges of the pandemic, we remained steadfast in our commitment to spreading the Good News and serving our community. We launched virtual Bible studies and small groups before transitioning to in-person gatherings.

We invite you to join us on a journey of faith and community as we continue to walk in God's love and make a positive impact in our neighborhood and beyond.

What We Believe

Discipleship

Matthew 28:19-20; 2 Timothy 2:2

We believe that Jesus Christ has called us to intentionally teach and mentor one another in our faith. As we grow in our relationship with Him, we will be able to pass on what we have learned to others who are seeking to follow Him. This process of discipleship is essential to fulfilling Christ's mission for His Church, as we equip one another to make disciples of all nations.

Biblical Teaching

2 Timothy 3:16-17

We believe that the Holy Scriptures are the inerrant Word of God and are the foundation for transforming people for His work in their lives. As we read and study the Bible, we are equipped with the knowledge and understanding of God's will for our lives, and are transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Restoration

1 Peter 2:12

We believe that the Church has a powerful role to play in restoring hope, healing, and wholeness to our broken world. As followers of Christ, we are called to be a light in the darkness, breaking down walls of division and showing love and compassion to all those around us. Through our actions and good works, we aim to restore the Church's reputation and demonstrate the love of Christ to those who may not yet know Him.

Prayer

Acts 4:23 - 31

We believe that prayer is a powerful way to connect with God and experience His transformative work in our lives and in our church. As we pray, we demonstrate our complete dependence on Him, acknowledging that we cannot do anything apart from Him. Through prayer, we open ourselves up to the incredible things God wants to do in and through us, and we can't help but be amazed by His goodness and grace.

Community

Acts 2: 42-47

We believe that being part of a local community is vital for the health and growth of a believer. In the New Testament, we see that the early Christians lived in close-knit communities, sharing their lives and their faith with one another. We believe that this model of community is just as important today, as we encourage one another, learn from one another, and support one another on our journey of faith.
